It works very well as a steamer, but equally well as a stock pot for making soups & stews by simply removing the basket. I have also used it to re-moisturize dried-out breads and rolls. The base is heavy and perfectly flat so it won't "rock" when placed upon glass cooktops. The lid fits very well and it does not "rattle" when steam escapes. It is a terrific value.

All-Clad MC2 Stockpot Review

(More customer reviews)The 12 quart stock pot is the big brother to the 6 quart Master Chef 2 stock pot I got a few months ago to replace both a 5 quart teflon lined pot and my 8 quart Le Creuset Dutch oven. The 6 quart stainless steel lined aluminum body fit the bill perfectly, so I had great hopes for its big brother. And, the 12 quart has come through with flying colors.
I started getting Master Chef 2 from all the different All-Clad lines because that seemed to be the standard of choice on the Food Network's 'Iron Chef America' show. And, while I know it is not the most expensive All-Clad line, I'm also sure that they would not have chosen it if Bobby and Mario would have had any problem with it.
I also picked this particular pot because although it is labelled a stock pot, it does not have quite the classic high height to radius ratio, so it is not so high that it is hard to work with, especially when you are using it for soups. When I use it to make stocks, it has the one quality I want most, especially with an electric range, and that is control. Stock temperatures seem to respond quite well to changes in burner setting and I get no hot spots causing boiling when the overall temp of the stock is below 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Best of all, it is not extremely heavy, as it weighs less than the 8 quart Creuset.
A bit pricy, but an excellent member of its family of pots!

At last! A way to cook ramen in the microwave so that it comes out tasting like you cooked it on the stovetop!
The cooker is large enough to hold 2 packs of ramen at once and is suitable for cooking additional ingredients like eggs freshly cracked right on top of the ramen brick.
After 7 minutes in the microwave, it's hot and steamy enough to stir a raw egg in and have egg drop ramen.
I use chives myself. ^^
Clean up is easy and the ramen flavoring doesn't stain.
My favorite feature is only present in the other model available from eKitron though. It would have to be the fact it has a miso spork that's perfect for eating ramen and it fits conveniently right inside the lid. ^^
I haven't tried this particular model, but it's made by the same company and is more than likely of the same high quality. You can compare and contrast at eKitron.com.
Highly, Highly recommended for any ramen fan!

(More customer reviews)I got this because I saw Rachel use it on her food network show. I watched her show occasionally and I like her and some of her ideas although I am not a devoted follower.
I like having a big heavy duty nonstick pot for pasta and it works great for cooking soups and stews. I have stainless steel cookware and compared to my stainless steel pots this is functional and easy to clean. The oval shape is easier to handle compared to a big round tall pot, the dome shaped lid allows more cooking flexibility, it conducts heat well and Anolon makes quality cookware. I also purchased the 5-quart Oval Saute pan and the lids are inter-changeable. This is great for the times you don't need a lid that is domed and taller, has a vent, and you need to see the dish you are cooking.
I like the looks of this line better than her other line with the safety orange handles. That line has the same pot with a flatter glass top with no vent and it is called an 8-quart oval stock pot.
I watched the price for a while before I made a purchase. The price on this pot went up and down; as high as $99.00 and as low as $66.88. A friend who is a longtime Amazon shopper suggested putting it in my cart and waiting until it hit a good price to purchase it I did, I got it at a good price and I am happy.
So this is a great pot heavy duty and cleans easy. If you are a Rachel Ray fan but not into her line of pots with handles the same color of orange construction cones this is a great choice.

MIU Stainless 10-Quart Steamer and Pasta Cooker with Glass Lid Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this pot specifically for making chicken stock, and it did the job perfectly. The contents heated up quickly and evenly on my glass top stove. I was able to bring a full pot to a boil within a few minutes. With my old 4 quart RevereWare pot, it would take 15-20 minutes to bring water to a boil. This MIU pot obviously has good heat retention and distribution. The bottom is thick and heavy and the entire pot has a good solid feel to it. The lid fits properly, and there were no problems with sputtering or dripping from the lid. The glass is a nice bonus. You can check on your food without having to the lift the lid and lose heat. I have not used the steamer basket or pasta insert. Both fit well, though. The pasta cooker, when inserted, sits about 1 inch from the bottom of the pot, but I cannot comment on its performance. The steamer basket has a handle for lifting that's hard to see in the photo. It's unlikely that I'll use the pasta cooker or steamer basket any time soon, but if I do, I'll update this review.

I have attempted to cook numerous pastas at varying temperatures and been frustrated every time. The water either boils over (regardless of water level in the pot) or just doesn't simmer. Ordinarily I'd blame my incompetence, but attempts by friends and family to better my performance with the pot returned similar results. I thoroughly enjoy cooking with the rest of my All-Clad collection, but have relegated the colander to the basement cupboard and pulled out the old, but reliable Reverware.

Fagor 4-Piece 8-Quart Multipot Review

But it WILL NOT.
If you take a magnet to the bottom of the pot (the way one checks if cookware is induction-compatible) it DOES NOT STICK to the bottom of the multipot.
Thus, this pot is useless for induction owners.

And what I found out was: There really is no comparison. Pasta n More LOOKS like you're getting more for your money, but doesn't deliver. The instructions are unclear, and the cookbook that comes with it is lame. I've used it 4 times and my pasta has came out hard on the ends and pasty in the middle.

(More customer reviews)This is a really nice pan. I have used it many times. It is good quality and the right size for my family. The steamer basket works great and so does the lock and drain system. The only thing that I don't like is the lid design. If you aren't using the drain piece the lid sits down in a groove and is not tight fitting so when the food gets hot and boils the lid jiggles and makes noise and spews water drops all over the stove top or floor. I have had to resort to using a lid from another pan that fits better, go figure!

This 7 1/3 Qt covered pasta pot and drainer is constructed of low carbon steel with porcelain glass coating. There are no PFOA's or any other chemical to alter food's taste, color or healthfullness. Porcelain enamel is the result of fusing powdered glass to a substrate by firing, usually between 750 and 850 degrees Celsius. The powder melts and flows and hardens to a durable vitreous coating on a carbon steel core. It creates a smooth, hard finish that won\'t burn and resists staining. (More customer reviews)I am very happy with this pot. It is a thin stainless steel; as would be expected from the price. I have used the steamer insert several times and am very pleased with it. There is a tight seal so the veggies steam up nicely. I haven't used the double-boiler part yet, but it looks like it will work great for melting chocolate. So, if you are looking for an inexpensive steamer; this is a good pot to go with. But, if you are looking for a restaurant quality steamer, then this isn't that.
UPDATE Oct 2010: I have since used the double-boiler part for melting chocolate, and it worked great. I am still very plesed with this multi-pot.

(More customer reviews)Ok, this is obviously not the same as the traditional All Clad stock pots, if it was it would be more then triple the price of this one without the 2 inserts. It is part of the disk bottom collection, however it is still top quality stainless steel and very well made. I certainly would not consider it secondary. It is a little lighter in weight than the traditional All Clad but it is not a light weight pot by any means. It is great for pasta, soup, stew, steaming veggies, etc. You will love it and you can't beat the price. It is very easy to clean and the inserts can be stacked and stored inside. A+
Tip: If you should get something stuck to the stainless steel use a product called "Bar Keepers Friend" to clean it. Most supermarkets have it and Kitchen Etc. and Bed, Bath and Beyond carry it too. The container (like a Comet can) is gold with blue and white writing. All Clad recommends it for cleaning stainless steel and it works like a dream and is very inexpensive.

(More customer reviews)Although this pot is inexpensive, I don't think it is a good value. The quality level of this pot is typical of what is found in dollar stores. The steel is so thin that I can literally buckle the side of the pot with my index finger. You are going to have to coddle this pot to keep it from getting dented up.
The steel at the base is just as thin as the sides, so heat distribution is terrible. This will not be too big an issue if you're just boiling water for pasta or steaming. But, this pot is not going to double as good stock pot.
It looks as inexpensive as it is. So, it's probably not going to flatter the decor of your kitchen.
Accordingly, I am returning this item. I think it's worth spending a little more to get something better.
