This is one one of the best products you can possibly have in your kitchen for steaming veggies. I own two of them. They are extremely easy to use, clean and store. The legs of the mesh basket are very important and allow you to pour the water used for steaming into the bottom of the container without the veggies actually touching the water during the steaming process. The vented glass top is a MUST for the steaming process and does two essential things. First it allows steam to rise through out the container and escape in a controlled fashion at the top thereby assuring a through steaming & cooking process and equally as important permits the cook to control the heat on your stove needed to produce a regulated funnel of steam by visually seeing and guaging the intensity of the steam funnel coming from the small orifice located on the glass lid. Once the funnel starts to steam you can turn your stove down to low and let the steamer do its job for the next 15-20 minutes. This is a great steamer for food for two or possibly three people for a meal. Will steam asparagus, corn, potatoes, broccoli, brussels sprout, squash as well as any other vegetable that you want to put into the container. You can put more than one kind of vegetable in the steamer at the same time if desired. One word of caution,the stainless steel handles and lid become very hot. Be sure to use gloves or a heating pad when handling the pot, glass top or metal vegetable insert.
