2. Before buying this product, I looked around the Internet to try to find the weight of stainless steel. At parkers-pantry.com, I found the following in addition to the product description posted at Amazon:

This is very lightweight metal.
4. After using the poacher once, I found the bottom surface became pitted.
I would not recommend this product.

(More customer reviews)I have owned a set of Norpro Krona pots and pans for over seven years, getting heavy use each day. When I saw that there was now a 4-piece Steamer/Cooker Set, I immediately ordered one. The arrangement of steamer basket suspended by its rim over a pasta colander makes it ideal for steaming vegetables while simultaneously boiling pasta. The vegetables can be lifted out of the pot at any time by the folding wire handles on the steamer basket, allowing you to control their tenderness.I am unhappy with the new glass-and-steel lids that Norpro has begun using because they are not seamless nor as well-made as the older, solid-steel lids. Other than that, the Steamer/Cooker Set has performed exactly as expected and as always, with an entirely stainless steel construction, has been easy to clean either by hand or in the dishwasher. And yes, the triple-layer construction on the bottom of the pan diffuses the heat from my gas burners very effectively.

Norpro Large No Post Stainless Steel Vegetable Steamer Review

(More customer reviews)This steamer insert is too large to use in smaller pots, so be sure to measure and make sure your pot is at least 7" wide on the inside. The feet won't scratch your pot, and removing the cooked vegetables is much easier without the center post common to cheaper steamers. With this one, I can just use a large spoon to scoop out the items, or if I want I can hoist the entire steamer out of the pan by grabbing the rings on the sides, but that's pretty tricky when it's fully of steaming veggies.

Norpro Tin Heat Diffuser Review

(More customer reviews)Maybe it's just me... but the stinky, smoking handle problem wasn't an issue with me at all. When the diffuser arrived I unwrapped it and, with a gentle tug, pulled off the wooden handle! It's not like I'm going to be moving it around while I'm cooking on it. The handle would just get in my way on the stovetop, anyway. Without the handle, it stores much easier, too.
These little tin diffusers aren't designed to be used with a burner that's turned all the way up to "high". You'll need a cast iron or solid aluminum one for that kind of heat. If you're just trying to reduce hot spots or using it with a ceramic Moroccan tagine, it's perfect.

If you're cooking a delicate sauce, or melting chocolate, it's imperitave to use really low, gentle heat. This diffuser adds a layer of protection between the burner and the bottom of the pan, yet its perforations do allow heat to get through.

(More customer reviews)I use two of these regularly and have given a number of them as gifts to people I really like.
Most whole chickens in the market are FAT, and this drains the fat off the vertical chicken very effectively. Also, all the juices are retained in the dripping pan. When the chicken is nice and crisp, we enjoy it but we put the dripping pan into the fridge. In the morning, we skim off and discard the hardened fat and freeze the nonfat drippings in a baggie to flavor future chicken dishes.
I've used the vertical roasters that are painted black, but the black paint eventually puffs and peels. This unit's stainless steel is durable, hygienic, and easy to wash.

I found it recently and bought some fresh garlic, drizzled it with olive oil, and sprinkled some fresh thyme over it. About 45 minutes later, the house was filled with the aroma of roasted garlic....YUMMM!!! I have used roasted garlic with mashed potatoes and will never again do it any other way. The Norpro works much better than foil as it bakes the garlic more evenly. I use this item all the time now and just toss it in the oven when I'm roasting another main dish or casserole. It's so good that you may find yourself wanting more than one, as there is nothing that tastes better than food smothered in roasted garlic.
