Halogen Oven by Morningware Review

I received this oven in December and since then I've cooked a 13-lb. stuffed turkey, salmon fillets, a 4-lb. chicken, a casserole of stuffing, a lemon pie, peanut butter cookies, fajita vegetables, sliced sweet potatoes, and a frozen pizza. It took some trial and error but I think this will work well for me. What I like most about it is its pristine appearance and how easily it cleans up after use and then stores away out of sight. I like the fact that the timer alerts me when it's through cooking and I can watch the progress myself through the clear plastic container. I like that it requires no preheating and doesn't heat up the kitchen. I like that I can pause and interrupt the cooking to adjust the dish or add sauce or seasoning and then reset it to a new cooking time or temperature. I'm even becoming competent at using it to reheat coffee or my cold dinner. It's important to keep the food the correct distance from the heat source, or utilize aluminum foil to slow down the browning process or to allow food to steam through. I think this is a keeper for me as I continue to experiment with it.

Aroma Housewares AST-900E AeroMatic Convection Oven Review

I love these turbo ovens and have been using them for years.
The Aroma brand of products never disappoints for quality and usability and this oven is no exception.
Basically it sits on your counter. You load the pot with food such as chicken wings or a pork roast or a whole chicken or just about anything.
The lid contains a heater and a fan and it blows superhot air across the food cooking it. It can give the effect of either deep frying without the oil and fat or a rotisserie except you can do it on the countertop with no special equipment.
For the worlds best wing:
Turbo Wings
3-4 pounds of defrosted chicken wings - whole or separated into wings and drumettes
Season with:
Kosher salt
Spicy Hungarian Paprika
Cayenne - a light sprinkle
a dash of pepper
a dusting of garlic powder to taste
Pack loosely into the turbo over. Roast at high heat ~375-400'F for about 15-20 minutes. Watch them cook.
When done they have this awesome crispy outside with tender juicy meat inside.
I've tried these wings a variety of ways including a regular convection over and somehow they are never as good as with the turbo oven. I think the air circulation is better in the more confined space of the turbo.
This will give you years of delicious fast preparing food for the busy person, and the unit cleans in a snap.
Well worth the price. I just bought another one here from Amazon to replace one I have thats 14 years old. I broke the pot by accident. The heater and turbo unit are still fine and work great.

Lodge Logic Dutch Oven with Loop Handles Review

When I saw the price, free shipping, and factory pre-seasoning, this dutch oven proved irresistable. The size is great and the black color was attractive.Sadly, the factory pre-seasoning did not meet expectations! I learned to cook using cast iron, and I still own several "original finish" cast iron skillets, griddles and specialty pans (tri-ply stainless steel is wonderful, but some things just cook more evenly with cast iron). While cast iron is not difficult to season,it was just an added bonus to order a dutch oven that I thought would have an even, well applied finish to begin the seasoning process (properly seasoned cast iron pans only get better over the years). When the dutch oven arrived, I was surprised by what seemed to be a discoloration under the finish on the inner surface of the pot lid. I used the dutch oven for the first time to make chili. The steam from the chili caused the "pre-seasoning" on the inner surface of the lid to mottle badly, and the area that had initially appeared discolored was revealed to be covered with rust. A tell-tale metallic smell was also present (usually a sign that your pan might need to be seasoned again). Needless to say, I was disapointed. This pan proved to be MORE effort than the original finish pans since I had to scrub down the lid to remove the remaining mottled pre-seasoning, and to remove the rust. I then just seasoned the lid properly the old-fashion way in my oven. All in all, the Dutch oven is well worth $25 (and the saved $12.66 in shipping charges is also appreciated), but the Lodge Cast Iron Manufacturing Co. has a reputation for quality that this finish did not meet. I contacted the company to express my concerns (ie, did I need to take additional steps to remove all of the factory applied finish) and to ask if this problem was evident in other pans in the pre-seasoned line. The Lodge Co. has not responded to my email. Bottom line, before paying full price plus shipping, for anything in the pre-seasoned line, I would compare the cost to the original finish, or to the beautiful new Lodge enamel cast iron items.
