I love this set. It is well worth the money. Very good quality. It is larger than I thought it would be. It makes cooking much more enjoyable.

Our pasta set includes a 12-quart covered stockpot and a 12-quart pasta insert. The advantages of cooking with this insert are many. The insert fits into the pot and the pasta cooks within the insert. When the pasta is cooked, simply lift the insert above the pan to drain. Because the pasta is lifted rather than poured, draining is a gentle process, ideal for delicate filled pasta such as ravioli. As the water drains back into the cooking pot, there is no worry of water backing up into your sink if your colander drains too slowly. And if you decide you need to cook a second batch of pasta, the water can be brought back to a boil quickly. Not just for pasta, the insert may be used for blanching vegetables, boiling corn or making stocks, and the stockpot alone will hold a party size batch of chowder.

Tramontina Commercial StockPot 20-qt. Review

Tramontina Commercial StockPot 20-qt.
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a great pot designed for commercial use. It is fairly heavy, which is good for heat distribution. BUT... The problem I have with the pot is that when it is full with water, it is too heavy for me to lift to the sink to drain. This is where the inserts would come in very handy, but this particular pot in this size does not come with one (and neither does the 24-qt).
The price for this pot is very steep here. Sams club has this same exact pot for $49.97 and the bigger 24-qt pot for about $5 more (as of 9/3/08). Walmart and Target also sell them, so shop around.

All-Clad MC2 Stockpot Review

All-Clad MC2 Stockpot
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The 12 quart stock pot is the big brother to the 6 quart Master Chef 2 stock pot I got a few months ago to replace both a 5 quart teflon lined pot and my 8 quart Le Creuset Dutch oven. The 6 quart stainless steel lined aluminum body fit the bill perfectly, so I had great hopes for its big brother. And, the 12 quart has come through with flying colors.
I started getting Master Chef 2 from all the different All-Clad lines because that seemed to be the standard of choice on the Food Network's 'Iron Chef America' show. And, while I know it is not the most expensive All-Clad line, I'm also sure that they would not have chosen it if Bobby and Mario would have had any problem with it.
I also picked this particular pot because although it is labelled a stock pot, it does not have quite the classic high height to radius ratio, so it is not so high that it is hard to work with, especially when you are using it for soups. When I use it to make stocks, it has the one quality I want most, especially with an electric range, and that is control. Stock temperatures seem to respond quite well to changes in burner setting and I get no hot spots causing boiling when the overall temp of the stock is below 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Best of all, it is not extremely heavy, as it weighs less than the 8 quart Creuset.
A bit pricy, but an excellent member of its family of pots!

Average Reviews:

Gorgeous sturdy pot! Exactly what I was looking for and what I got. Nice and roomy for all my cooking stuffs and Lord knows I like that. Its also not heavy, but it's sturdy and not cheap! Lid fits nicely to form a clean seal. I have made many a nice meal in it, including Spicy Sicilian Chicken which requires a full 5lb chicken among many other things and that was no match for my lovely new pot!
Clean up is a so easy, no stains, the pot literally wipes right up! I use my pot on my Ceramic stove top and it really is perfect for it. It fits nicely on the burner. I love that it is stainless steel so as not to mess up my foods tastes or leach any harmful chemicals into my foods!
I feel this is the best bargain for a pot in this category! Its an awesome pot that anyone would be proud to own. Use, then store or display, it looks nice on my ceramic stove top and functions perfectly. Couldn't ask for better.
Do be aware of your dimensions regarding clearance from your stove top to whatever maybe above your stove, your microwave, range hood or kitchen cabinets. We have a microwave above our kitchen stove top and although the clearance is plenty fine, when removing the lid I still banged into the microwave's base of the door a couple times.

Winware Stainless Double Boilers Review

Winware Stainless Double Boilers
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Sometimes you are suspect when an item may seem too "affordable" to be of good quality; no need to be a skeptic with this Winware s.s.double boiler. It is heavy with sturdy handles - not flat metal.
I did o.k. without a true double boiler for my cheese making, but got really tired of the constant fear that I'd ruin a batch of cheese or my 'kluged' double boiler would slip off the water pan. This will also be great for canning my hot, hot, hot salsa this summer.
For now, Tomme is on the schedule!
UPDATE: The double boiler's bottom pitted while making ricotta causing BLACK discoloration on the ricotta!. The acid from a couple of grains of the undissolved citric acid etched the double boiler.
My favorite engineer says that the pot is probably made from an inferior grade of stainless steel as any restaurant S.S. would not pit from exposure to acidic foods.
Also, the price on this item has increased by approximately $60 since I purchase item AND posted a review: about 10 days. Hmmmmmmm. Try another source or manufacturer if you need a quality Stainless steel item. Very disappointed. 02/05 Major price drop.

I am disappointed with this pot. As soon as I opened it, I discovered that it was dent right at the spigot. The first thing that I did was to fill it with water to see if it leaked. Since it didn't leak I decided to keep it rather than go through the hassle of a return.

All-Clad 3707-I D Stainless Steel Pasta Colander Insert
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
All-Clad's usual high quality and performance is missed with this highly disappointing colander insert. I have attempted to cook numerous pastas at varying temperatures and been frustrated every time. The water either boils over (regardless of water level in the pot) or just doesn't simmer. Ordinarily I'd blame my incompetence, but attempts by friends and family to better my performance with the pot returned similar results. I thoroughly enjoy cooking with the rest of my All-Clad collection, but have relegated the colander to the basement cupboard and pulled out the old, but reliable Reverware.

Circulon Infinite Circulon 7-Quart Covered Locking Straining Stockpot Review

Circulon Infinite Circulon 7-Quart Covered Locking Straining Stockpot
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have two smaller Circulon straining pots, from the "Circulon 2" family. I use them every day, literally, but always have to be mindful of the lids as they do not properly lock. I discovered this the first day, when I dumped my spaghetti into the sink while attempting to strain it. After that, I wore an oven glove to hold the lid on (Circulon recommended not tipping that pot more than 45 degrees to strain, which was ridiculous - that seemed like an afterthought meant to cover their butts. That would've left half the water in the pot, which would have defeated the purpose of having a straining saucepan!).
With this pot, you don't have to do that. It locks the way it's supposed to. The pot feels sturdy enough, though I expected the lid to be "heavier". It doesn't need to be, though. It works beautifully the way it is and is not flimsy in any way.
The pot is a good size for family-sized pasta meals, and is so much easier to use and less awkward than pasta pots that come with the insert. And it's so much better than having a colander sit in the sink and dumping the whole pot into it, which allows the dirty water in the drain to back up into the sink and make contact with the pasta. Yuk.
This pot is also great for cooking quantities of sauce, too. The lid allows the steam to vent without splatter going everywhere.
I use this pot for much more than pasta and sauce, however.
It's great for cooking up a pot of soup in the winter, which is something I do a lot, or a pot of beans. And it's fantastic for making rice pudding on the stovetop because it's non-stick. You can use it for virtually anything. If you don't need venting for a particular dish, lay a piece of foil across the top before setting the lid on top.
I was so impressed with this pot, I bought one for each of my three daughters!

The pot is not at all durable, and the lid was already warped upon arrival. Also, the bottom of the pot is raised, making it impossible to heat the pot by conduction on a flat-surface stove, such as the one I have. I'll find some use for it, but it won't be brewing.

Kuhn Rikon 3043 Duromatic 6.3-Quart (6-Liter) Stockpot Pressure Cooker Review

Kuhn Rikon 3043 Duromatic 6.3-Quart (6-Liter) Stockpot Pressure Cooker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am extremely pleased with this item. I learned how to pressure cook with this pot, and now I can have osso buco ready in well under an hour; and I actually prefer it done in the pressure cooker!
Get a Lorna Sass cookbook and go to town with this baby. My only caveat: I usually cook for just two or three, and the size of this pot is fine for that. Most recipes are written for a six quart pressure cooker anyway. Still, there are a few times I wish the cooker was a little bigger so I could cook a larger volume--making stock, for instance, or making a big batch of chili.
If you're cooking for more than a few, you might consider the 8 qt model. That's not a criticism of this pot at all--I wouldn't part with it. It's a tool in my kitchen which I use often, sometimes several times a week. Highly recommended.

T-Fal Specialty 12-Quart Nonstick Stock Pot, Black Review

T-Fal Specialty 12-Quart Nonstick Stock Pot, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We bought this to replace an old Calphalon pot which crashed to our floor and bent out of shape. The old pot was wonderful, but quite heavy and you had to hand wash it. This one retains the nonstick feature (an essential when making split pea soup), yet is much lighter. The glass lid has a vent built into it, making overflows much less likely. Lastly, the whole thing can go into the dishwasher if you want, but is easy to wash by hand, too, especially since it is lighter weight than the old pot. You can maneuver it around.
We still have another T-Fal piece that we bought over 20 years ago, and it's still going strong! That's what led us to buy this one.
The one possible negative I could even think of is that it's very tall, making it a little difficult for us folks of shorter stature to ladle out the soup. It is a 12 quart pot, though, so you have to expect the volume to come from somewhere.
Overall, a great pot! And we do a lot of cooking!!!

Cuisinart Classic Stockpot Review

Cuisinart Classic Stockpot
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently purchased this 12qt stockpot with a pasta insert and cover, and I couldn't be more pleased. The pot is beautifully made, with very confortable handles (another reviewer noted the finger grips -- a nice touch) and the lid fits perfectly.
I used it for the first time to cook 2 chickens and make stock. Both chickens fit easily in the pot, yet allowed enough space for adequate water. It was very easy to bring the pot to a boil and then reduce to a very slow simmer, just a bubble or two breaking the surface. I used the simmer burner on my gas stove, and for the first time was able to maintain a simmer with the lid tightly on. With my old stockpot (large enough for only one chicken) even with the simmer burner at the lowest setting I could not maintain a simmer with the lid tightly on the pot.
The pasta insert made it a breeze to remove the chickens when they were cooked, and reduce the stock while I picked the meat off the bones and returned the bones to the pot in the insert to cook longer, more fully flavoring the broth. Removing the insert removed the bones and other parts, making straining the stock a simple one-step process. This same process with the pasta insert will make blanching vegetables from the garden MUCH easier and faster, and I'm looking forward to freezing the veggies from next summer's garden.
The pot is weighty and solid, yet With a full pot of water I can still lift and carry it, which I could never manage with an All-Clad 12qt stockpot.
I like this pot so much I just today ordered the Chef's Classic 7 piece set with bonus 2 1/2 qt sautee pan. I can hardly wait to have a lobster feed and sacrifice some of Maine's finest lobsters in this pot, served with sides cooked up in pots from my new set. I highly reccomend this stockpot and this cookware line.

Winware Stainless Steamer/Pasta Cookers

We have 2- 20 quart and 1- 12 quart STAINLESS STEEL Pasta Pots that we purchased in Jan 2011. They work great, reduce work and allow us to reuse the water to boil additional pasta. We used the 20 qt. in at least 8 events during January feeding at least 125 men for each event and found them to be a huge time saver. I had not read the previous reviews prior to buying these, however, I cannot think that somehow the wrong insert was sent. Perhaps they received aluminum or undersized. I do agree that it takes longer to boil water but once boiled it takes less time to cook more pasta. For home use I want to purchase the 8 qt. for smaller gatherings. Winware is part of Wincous.com. They make great stuff. Also Thunder Group (exactly like winware / winco) is the same. Available cheaper from Webstaurant store or Winco from TigerChef.com for much less. For my money the Winco product lines are a great asset to our catering company.

If you're thinking about stepping up to all-grain brewing or doing 10 gallon batches, this is the pot for you. Very heavy duty. One thing to keep in mind is that this pot might be a bit wider than you're used to, so you may find that your immersion wort chiller doesn't submerge as far in a typical 5 gallon batch as you're used to. This might reduce some of your cooling efficiency, but it only took me about 5 more minutes to get down to my pitching temp.
