(More customer reviews)Admittedly I kinda bought this as a mid sized pot for steaming and pasta. My other pot is a bit small and my giant ones aren't needed as much. The aluminum pot of course heats lightning fast to make some quick pasta etc... So I gave it a go. (Remember aluminum is reactive so not good for tomatoe sauce etc. But heats at an incredible rate for speed)
And I haven't had a pressure cooker in like 20 years. Not since the early 80's when I was a kid. So I was like hey pressure could be cool again! So It was kinda a fun nostalgia thing for me.
But I put it to the test and it really kicks butt. I wanted to make some potato water for a sourdough starter I was making. What I got was potato water and potatoes for potato salad in minutes! I totally forgot how fast these things are. The salad was great.
It is a nice classic one with the weight jiggler like I am used to. But also has a safety pressure latch to hold the handle when under pressure. AND a separate pressure safety valve. AND a slot away from where the handle sits so the gasket can blow slightly if all else fails. VERY well designed.
Also the gasket is made of silicone. Wich is VERY good if you braise using anything with alcohol in it. (Such as wine) Silicone doesn't decompose when exposed to alcohol such as rubber products wich actually dissolve over time.
I recommend it to anyone who needs a mid sized pot or wants to make an awesome dinner in literally a FRACTION of the normal time. I will be using the pressure top ALOT! :) Keeps FULL pressure at an extremely low flame setting.

I was supprised at how solidly built it is, for $40 with free shipping i could not have asked for more. I used it over thanksgiving to cook everything in minutes. The only thing that keeps this from the fifth star is that the lid is slightly more difficult to place on the pot then some models, but seals easily and I had no problem with it while cooking. The weights are of a non-rocking veriety, so the steam engine effect, which some find disturbing, is not a problem with this cooker.

First Wearever/Mirro: 1) Most pressure cookers today have a standard of 15 [fifteen] pounds per square inch of cooking pressure. This is what one should expect & get. Not these, that have only 10[ten]psi, meaning much longer cooking times. Much of the pressure cooking advantage is reduced, cooking times increased, more nutrients lost [there is a time x temperature interaction for many compounds].
2) It is not clearly stated that this cooker is of the type with a separate weighted pressure head instead of the more modern in-built type. There is no way to determine this from the product description by Amazon which should be clearer about these 2 important features: the working pressure, if non-standard, and the type of head.
Amazon: 2 days ago, the price was $37.98, today it is $35. Apparently, this item is not selling well, so the price dropped 3/38 in 2-3 days; it will fall further, probably because customer dissatisfaction is VERY VERY HIGH with both sets of vendors. Warning: I was foolish: will find only only a few customer reviews, 2-3, for this product. Compare that with the better brands, for which you will see 300+ reviews. That itself speaks volumes: people are buying those brands and NOT Wearever. Only fools like me buy brands on clearance!! You either buy what you like or
like what you buy, its that simple.This is my first ever cookware purchase from Amazon and my last.

When cooking with it you have to keep adjusting the heat as it won't hold an even tempature, one pan will get hot and the other too cold, you adjust it and it goes the other way, one reason for this is the paper thin pans that won't hold any heat. The directions for assembly are very scant. Again this fryer is junk, I will not recommend to anyone.

I used it on my stove's 16,000 BTU burner, but that has not been a problem for my other cookware. The fried chicken it produced was good, but I'm sure this pot can't stand up to heavy use. Buy it only for occasional use. If you plan to fry alot, buy a basket for your dutch oven or buy a commercial aluminum fry bottom/basket.

(More customer reviews)This is an excellent pressure cooker at an excellent price. I do feel they should have included a trivet and metal plate. All of the accessories are extra.
I ordered the canning rack which holds 4 pints. I don't believe it would be wise to try to can quarts in this one, but the directions were not clear. In fact, I would have given this a much higher rating if they were, but I had trouble figuring out how to use it...and one does want to follow directions where a pressure cooker is concerned. They kept referring to to pressures, hi and low. I finally realized the 6 qt model has both but not the 10 and the directions were applicable to each model. The 10 quart pressures at 15 lbs....FAST!
I once had Fagor 6 qt model and the metal was heavier than this one. However, the upside is that it is easier to lift up to pour things from it which is a plus if you're elderly as I am.
I really like they way this cooks; fast, easy to clean. It's beautifully designed pan.
There are numerous uses for non-pressure cooking too. Big enough for a stock pot, cooking spagetting for a crowd, etc etc.
I haven't canned with it. However, I plan on making a big pot of soup and canning what's left.
One reviewer mentioned that you can't fill it over 2/3 full. That is true of ANY pressure cooker. So if you are debating between a 6 quart or a 10 quart, go for the 10 quart.
There are additional accessories for this..canning rack, bucket insert (for spaghetti, etc.) I recommend getting the lid for non-pressured food and keep the pressure lid for pressure.
I don't think you will be disappointed with this product.

The sealing ring fits around the inside rim of the cover and forms a pressure-tight seal between the cover and the body of the pressure cooker during cooking or canning. When installing a sealing ring, work it into the cover in four small sections, for example, top, bottom, left and right. Work it into the groove a small section at a time until it is fully in place. Place the cover on the cooker body. Put one hand on the top center of the cover and push down firmly. (More customer reviews)This is an excellent pressure cooker. I also have the 8-quart stainless steel model by Presto and I don't like that one as much as this one. I like the little rocker on top better because I know exactly how much pressure it has. It is super easy to carry this extremely lightweight pressure cooker to the sink, run water over it, and in 5-10 seconds the pressure is down! It is not heavy or hot. You just have to be careful when you do this. I actually prefer this method of quick cooling to the method used in the 8-quart, which is to open the little weight and let the steam shoot out the top. That method takes about a minute, plus there's steam all over the place. That seems more dangerous to me than going to the sink.
This model is a smaller version of the 6-quart, so if you think this one is too small, that one would work for a family. This size is just right for one or two people. I always make very small quantities of food in it anyway as I don't like to have a lot of leftovers.
Cleanup with this product is very fast and easy as it is so lightweight. Another nice thing is that replacement parts are very easy to obtain (rubber gasket and overpressure plug).
I highly recommend this pressure cooker and the 6-quart stainless steel model as well.

Presto 06003 Options Electric Multi-Cooker/Steamer Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this EXACT model in 2001, and along with steaming, blanching, roasting, etc., it clearly advertises itself as a "deep fryer" of which it does an excellent job. The manual even includes full frying instructions!
If Presto has decided to now say "don't fry in this", it is strictly a legal move. The problem is that Presto's "fry daddy" line has no temperature control, and it's preset low enough so that you can't set any frying liquid on fire. But these also have no versatility.
The multi-cooker can do so much more, because you can set the temperature from "warm" to 400 degrees. This is higher than the smoke point of some frying mediums (lard and shortening in particular) and therefore IF you don't know the smoke point of what you're using, you can get in trouble. This is probably why Presto's lawyers decided to say it's not a fryer anymore, although it clearly is. I, however, will happily continue to use my multi-cooker to make great fries, fried shrimp and chicken, donuts, etc. in addition to steaming and blanching vegetables, as well as braising. It's the most versatile appliance I own!

(More customer reviews)I decided to purchase this pressure canner after an exhaustive search online. This was the best price of any of the other sites I checked. I'll admit that the review from the woman whose canner "LITERALLY exploded" had me a little concerned, but since it was the only negative review, I decided to chance it since the price was so good ($79.97 and Free Super Saver shipping)! Best of all, it arrived in TWO DAYS!!!
The first thing I did was take the pressure gauge to my local county extension office (as recommended by the manufacturer) where they tested it and found it to be working perfectly. After getting their "OK", I hit the produce sales at my local market.
Even if you don't have a garden, you can still can fresh fruits and vegetables. I've already made 8 jars of strawberry jam using the hot water method, and canned enough tomato sauce to get me through until my own tomatoes are ripe and ready for the canner later this Summer. Unlike commercially canned or frozen produce, I can control what ingredients go into my food!
The instruction book that comes with this pressure canner gives different ways to can most foods depending on if you want to can them (1)"cooked" so you can warm them up when you're ready to use them or (2)just safely preserved to be cooked right before serving or using in recipes.
Overall, an excellent pressure canner at a great price! Just follow the manufacturer's instructions - including having the pressure gauge checked by your county extension office - and you should have no problems preserving fresh, healthy foods for yourself, your family, and your loved ones.

Except the lower handle, whose screw could become lose after few months and keeps demanding some action with the screw driver, the cooker is virtually trouble free. For the money I paid, it is a great purchase. As you would see, I have bought a second one.

(More customer reviews)This is a solid, basic stainless pressure cooker, that is quite a bargain at the $41.45 price (or $33 something after the $25 off $125 kitchen purchases).
Advantages:
* Easy to use flip pressure regulator for quick release of pressure
* Only has 15 lbs pressure that is adequate for normal pressure cooking
* Has handles on both sides that makes the cooker easy to carry and stable when full.
* Stainless won't interact with food product such as tomatoes.
* 8 qt. capacity gives 4 qts of capacity when cooking foaming products such as beans or lentils.
* Easier to clean than some pressure cookers I have used.
Disadvantages:
* Only cooks at 15 lbs of pressure, where some recipes call for only 10 lbs and would have to be adjusted.
* Most canning is done at 10 lbs pressure at sealevel and up to 1000 ft elevation
* I respectfully disagree that this cooker is meant for canning. It could process 3 or 4 pints in a pinch, but a 23 qt pressure cooker is the canning workhorse and will hold 19 pts or 7 qts. The manual suggests not canning in it, and it doesn't have a canning trivet included.
* It is much lighter weight than older Presto models, so I don't know if it will last as long as the old ones did.
Overall, it is a great pressure cooker for most cooking, and is a very good value.
